One of my Goals for Spring Quarter was to draw more. My plan to improve is to google reference images for something I'm interested in, and then just draw that thing in my own style. Hopefully, the reference images will force me to draw somewhat three-dimensionally, and help me draw with more accurate proportions.
As a starting point I want to draw warriors from different cultural traditions, especially ones that aren't overdone, like samurais and knights. Recently I've been listening to the audiobook for Fukuyama's The End of History, and he mentions the Ottoman empire's Janissaries a fair amount in one chapter. I think I'll start with them.
